Dear
Desert Vista Families,
Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year. I am very excited to start
year 29 in
education and year 3 at Desert Vista. It is very rewarding to “work”
in a career that is always changing and growing. I am so grateful
that I still wake up 29 years later loving my job and excited to
go to work.
I
believe we have worked hard in the last two years to provide an
excellent
learning environment for our students. With the outstanding teachers
and staff at DVES, our students are able to learn and grow to reach
their potential.
Each year we select a theme to build on throughout the year. Our
first year we
implemented the “FISH PHILOSOPHY”. We continue to use
the “FISH
PHILOSOPHY” each day. “Be there”, “Make
someone’s day”, “Choose your attitude”and
“Play” are the key phrases that we will continue to
use to build our DVES “Family”.
Our
theme last year was the “Energy Bus”. This was a book
read by the staff which encouraged positive attitudes. This was
a great reminder for all about the energy and attitude we need to
provide exciting learning to our students.
This year our staff has chosen the book by Ron Clark entitled “The
Essential 55”. This book is a collection of effective rules,
covering all aspects of life, from the classroom to the world, from
human interactions to the cafeteria and bathroom manners. Our goal
is to provide an environment where all students can succeed.
My door is always open and I look forward to meeting more of you
as my
incredible journey at Desert Vista continues. I am confident that
2009-2010 will be another terrific year of learning and growth.
Sincerely,
Barbara Sanchez
