Welcome to your classroom. I am one of your fifth grade teachers this year and look forward to working with you.

Let me explain about my family and me. I was born in Buffalo, New York, on October 17. I spent my whole youth growing up in Alden, New York. I have one younger sister, Linda, and two deceased brothers, David and Jimmy who both died tragically, David from leukemia and Jimmy from a motorcycle accident. My husband and I have been happily married for 26 years. My husband is a police officer and has recently been promoted to sergeant. We have two wonderful, talented daughters. Tara, is 23 years old and teaches 4th grade in Mesa. Amanda is 19 years old and attends Queens College in New York City, in the borough of Queens, on a basketball scholarship. We also have two cats and one German Shepard dog.

All my formative schooling occurred in New York State. I attended Alden Central Schools in Alden, New York. Upon graduation I attended Canisius College in Buffalo, New York, where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree. During high school I twirled a baton with our band and in college I pursued my other interest of gymnastics and was a member of the college's gymnastic team. This year I start my 29th year of teaching, with this year being my fourth year here at Desert Vista Elementary. I've taught 4th through 8th grades here in Arizona, the State of Maine, and on the White Mountain Apache Indian Reservation.

My hobbies are varied. I am an avid basketball Mom. For the past three years that we have lived in the alley, every weekend you can find me working Saturday and Sunday at the Viewpoint Golf Resort in Mesa. In addition I like reading, baking, and swimming in our pool. Most of all I love traveling, especially to historical sites and the State of Maine where my husband's family lives.

Without a doubt I know my future will be busy. My oldest daughter is engaged so I know a wedding is on the horizon. Also I hope to catch a few Queens College Basketball games. Someday I hope to get my bird poem published, but my immediate goal is to energize all of you and instill a passion for learning. I may be older, but my enthusiasm is high. I am excited to see you all today!!
