Desert Vista Elementary is off to a great start using Accelerated Reader. It is an independent reading practice program aims to improve students' reading skills through reading practice and by providing frequent feedback on students' progress to teachers. The Accelerated Reader program requires students to select and read a book based on their area of interest and reading level. Then students take a quiz to show what they recall about their book.

We just began taking AR quizzes in April and our students have already read over 1 million words! Our students are setting big goals and reaching for them every day. Way to go, Mustangs!
