Dear Desert Vista Families,

We have had a great start to the school year! Students have completed initial FastBridge testing and benchmark assessments, giving teachers valuable information to help determine where students may need additional support.

Thank you to everyone who attended our Title I Bingo for Books! It was a great evening, and we gave away 81 books to our students.

We also held our first Student of the Month Assembly, recognizing our July and August Students of the Month and students who placed in the Top 10 on last year's AASA assessments. We are so proud of their accomplishments! Be sure to check out the pictures below.

A special thank you to our families, students, and staff who dressed up and helped us celebrate Officer Harshman during his final week. The parade was a huge success, and he was surprised by all the love and support shown by our Mustang community. We wish him all the best in his retirement!

📸 Picture Retakes & Homecoming: Picture Retakes are Friday, September 4, which is also AJHS Homecoming!

🍪 PTO Fundraiser: Our PTO Cookie Dough Fundraiser begins after Labor Day. Watch for more information!

👩‍🏫 Conferences & Book Fair: Parent-Teacher Conferences are September 10–11, with early release at 1:35 p.m. both days. Please check ParentSquare for conference sign-up information from your child's teacher.
We will also have a smaller Book Fair during conference week. Since our librarian is on campus Wednesday–Friday, it will not run all week. We plan to extend the hours Thursday evening so families can shop while attending conferences. Exact hours will be shared soon. 🍂 Fall Break: First quarter ends September 18. Students return from Fall Break on Tuesday, October 6.

⭐ Looking Ahead
Our annual Spooktacular is Friday, October 23! PTO will need volunteers to help make this fun family event possible.

Our next PTO meeting is Tuesday, October 13. We are in need of families willing to become involved and take over PTO leadership. Without new volunteers, we will be unable to continue PTO and many of these special events next year.

Remember to follow AJUSD, DVES, and DVES PTO on Facebook to see some of the amazing things going on at our school.

September menus and other information is attached.

With Respect,
Mrs. Fant
