Dear Desert Vista Families,
We hope everyone has enjoyed a relaxing Fall Break! Just a reminder that Fall Break continues through Monday, and students return Tuesday, October 6. Gates open at 8:15 a.m. for breakfast, and school begins at 8:35 a.m. We are excited to welcome everyone back!
It is hard to believe we are already beginning the second quarter! Our students have completed their FastBridge screening, and teachers will be meeting Monday to dig into the results. Teams will sort and analyze the data, identify student needs, and use that information to create purposeful small-group instruction.
Based on our beginning-of-the-year data, some of our second- and third-grade students will also be invited to receive additional support from our AARP tutors. Families of students selected for this opportunity will receive more information.
Thank you to all of our families who joined us for Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences. We hope the conferences provided valuable insight into how your child’s year is progressing and ways families and teachers can continue working together for a successful year.
We would also like to thank our PTO and everyone who participated in the Cookie Dough Fundraiser! Please watch for information next week regarding cookie dough pickup.

📚 Tuesday, October 13 – Book Blast Kickoff: We will kick off our Book Blast! Families who were here last year may remember what a huge success this program was. Book Blast puts books directly into the hands of every student, with students receiving at least one and up to 10 books.
🧠 Week of October 26 – Second Grade Gifted Testing: Second-grade students will have the opportunity to participate in gifted testing. Please be on the lookout for permission slips.
